✤ Overview
My Voice Levels Chart is a learner‑centred visual support that helps learners understand and use appropriate voice levels across different environments including school, home, and community. With clear names, numbers, and visual cues, it offers a predictable structure that learners can rely on as they regulate their voice volume, communicate respectfully, and practice using their voice appropriately. The chart is provided in letter size, ensuring high‑quality printing and easy use in both classroom and home environments.
✤ Using the Chart Effectively
To ensure durability, please laminate My Voice Levels Chart or place it in a sheet protector. Display it in a visible location such as the learner’s desk, a classroom wall, or a home learning area. Each level can also be cut into individual cards and placed on the learner’s desk or near them during activities. You may simply point to or gently tap the card to remind the learner of the expected voice level in the moment. This provides a clear visual cue that reduces the need for frequent verbal prompts from teachers, support staff, or caregivers and helps minimize overstimulation or overwhelming feelings for the learner.
Please introduce each voice level explicitly and model examples with the learner. For instance:
• Level 4: Shout (emergency or outdoor play)
• Level 3: Outside (playground, gym, recess)
• Level 2: Inside (classroom conversations, group work, inside play time)
• Level 1: Whisper (quiet partner work, calming spaces)
• Level 0: Silent (listening time, transitions, independent work)
When the learner uses the correct voice level, please offer gentle reinforcement such as praise, acknowledgement, or a visual cue. Consistent modelling and predictable expectations help the learner internalize each level and use them independently.
