Overview

My Desk Responsibility Guide is a child‑centred, classroom‑ready visual support designed to help students follow essential responsibility behaviours at their desk. Thoughtfully created for real school environments, it provides clear, gentle, and predictable expectations that help children stay regulated, focused, and ready to learn.

How This Guide Supports the Child

The visual support minimizes the need for repeated verbal prompting, thereby reducing cognitive load and preventing emotional overwhelm, while offering the child clear, concrete expectations that strengthen independence. When placed on the child’s desk, it becomes a steady visual anchor that reminds them what to do, how to act, and how to engage respectfully with peers and adults. These gentle cues help the child stay regulated, build confidence, and participate calmly and respectfully in shared learning spaces.

Daily Reinforcement System

A simple daily reinforcement system is included. Children may earn check marks throughout the day as they demonstrate responsible choices. This small, predictable reinforcement helps build positive routines, strengthens motivation, and encourages effort.

How to Use

For ongoing use, please laminate the guide or place it in a sheet protector. To maximize motivation and the effectiveness of the token board, decide what the child is working for (reward) and write it down before they begin collecting check marks.

Ensure that the child receives a check mark immediately after showing the desired behaviour—or any attempt or effort toward the behaviour—and receives the reward as soon as all check marks are earned. This helps the child meaningfully understand that responsible behaviour leads directly to earning check marks and receiving the reward.

Digital and Print-Friendly Format

The PDF is created to be printed and used directly in school settings. It measures 6 cm × 9 cm, and after printing, can be placed on the child’s desk—ideally in the top right corner—for easy visibility and consistent access throughout the day.

After purchase, you will receive a download link by email. The file can be downloaded once only, so please save the PDF immediately to a secure and reliable device. The downloadable version is provided without watermark, allowing for clean, high‑quality printing and classroom use.

When this guide is updated, you will receive an email with a link to download the updated version at no additional cost.
